1/23/19 Over the course of this assignment, I noticed a few trends in the media through my analysis. These are that words can truly affect how people see things, that media is a main outlet to influence people's thoughts, and that the media is so powerful that it can completely alter and change the human mind and perception of the world and themselves creating problems that are beyond problematic. As we have learned in critical thinking, words are extremely powerful. The way they are arranged or the subconscious connotations that we attach to them. One thing can become more or less acceptable simply based on word choices, or how we reach an audience is based on our language. For example, the difference between conservative and liberal media is pretty incredible. The audiences clearly are different, so the language used to reach them must be tailored to the audience. 1/15/18 Competition. It inspires and pushes people, but also crushes, defeats, and hurts others. There is a difference between healthy and unhealthy competition. in addition to this, people take competition in different ways whether it be positive or negative. However, I feel that lately the amount of unhealthy competition leading to psychological problems has only grown. I can’t help but feel that the media yet again plays a big role in this issue. One of the most played and common genres of television shows is reality television and competitive shows such as Survivor or Masterchef . We have been entertained by competition all through history from the Romans with the Colosseum to the status quo. I think that now, everything has been a competition.
